No hay ciudad que se precie sin personas admiradas por todos sus conciudadanos. Pero pocas admiran a profesores. A un maestro de imberbes. A un maestro de la vida.
Jordi Vilamitjana fue maestro en Girona y lo fue toda su vida. Y lo seguirá siendo después de la misma, porque sus enseñanzas y su pasión por explicar perduran por encima de vidas y muertes. Porque Jordi hoy ya no está aquí en cuerpo, pero si en espíritu. Ese espíritu jovial, reivindicativo, luchador, tenaz, humilde y cercano. Ese espíritu sigue en todos y cada uno de los corazones de los que alguna o muchas veces le tuvimos como profesor o tutor. Pero también como amigo. Porque mientras sigamos acordándonos de él, defendiendo a su Girona F.C., amando y luchando por su ciudad y barrio, su recuerdo seguirá siempre vivo en nuestros corazones.
Hasta el final de sus días de lucha contra el maldito cáncer, no cesó su actividad social y docente. Al final, ya desde su casa, siguió escribiendo para el Diari de Girona, como para el periódico del pueblo. Respondiendo dudas a alumnos por facebook. Comentando el devenir de su enfermedad siempre con el máximo optimismo que jamás he visto en un ser humano. Jordi lucho y esa puta enfermedad sabía tan poco con quien se metía, que tuvo que llevárselo para doblegarlo. Hoy he visto a centenares de personas en el Tanatorio de Vilarroja en Girona, despedir a un grande. Un grande oculto. Porque él nunca quiso ser el centro de atención. Pero así es como se descubren a los admirados por todos. Cuando ves a centenares de personas movilizarse en una ciudad por la figura que debería ser principal en toda sociedad: el profesor. No se me ocurre mejor homenaje que el que hemos hecho esta mañana honrando su figura, y riéndonos incluso en ese momento. Porqué el así lo quiso. Y porque así lo pidió. Jordi fue un cabrón –o encabronador como solíamos decir el propio Jordi, mi amigo Pau y yo- que incluso en su marcha, se rió irónicamente. Jugó con travesura. Que como le dedica hoy mi amigo Albert Soler –otro encabronador oficial-, lo hace para no tener que aguantar a los jodidos politicuchos otra vez más en campaña. Así era Jordi. Y así es y lo será. Siempre simpático. Siempre haciéndonos reír con sus ocurrencias.
Jordi fue un profesor de esos que dejan huella. Capaz de venir disfrazado de Obelix a clase para animarnos a ser irreductibles ante los cambios en la ley educativa, de estudiar catalán en base a libros de monólogos de Andreu Buenafuente. Alguien que te sorprendía en clase con un diccionario de insultos. Con una bufanda del Manchester United. Jordi era un maestro de la vida. Y un amigo. Jordi, jo mai deixaré de ser un irreductible. Perquè així em vas ensenyar a encarar la vida i així, t'honraré.
Me duele en el alma escribir estas líneas porque no sé si tocan o debo, pero así salen. Tal cual. Como le salió a él ayudar a un distraído chaval hace ya más de 15 años, cuando lo veía pulular por el instituto pensando en estrellas y galaxias. Cuando nadie apoyaba esa pasión de ese chaval, Jordi si estuvo ahí. Jordi si escuchaba mis ruegos y preguntas, Jordi se informaba de las dudas que yo tenía para respondérmelas al día siguiente. Jordi me cogió del brazo una mañana, en la hora del recreo y me dijo mirándome a los ojos con una fuerza que me marcó para siempre: “No dejes nunca de interesarte por la ciencia. Esos que ahora se ríen cuando hablas de tus cosas, algún día te escucharan. Y ya ha empezado. Yo nunca me he reído, pero ya te escucho.”. Nunca jamás podré dejar de honrarle. Le debo gran parte de mi identidad e integridad como persona. Jordi fue la persona más sabia que he conocido en mis 29 años. Y hasta el final, pude seguir hablando con él semanalmente, comentando lo mejor y lo peor que nos deparaba la vida a ambos. Siempre fue un amigo. Y siempre lo será.
No solo te animaba a aprender lengua y a tener pasión por la literatura, sino que además te apremiaba a la lucha social. No entendía que la educación fuera solo entre cuatro paredes. El creía que su responsabilidad era tanta con el deber de tener que educar a los hijos de otros, que debía implicarlos también en la mejora de la vida del barrio. Inmigración, lucha obrera, deporte, ocio cultural. Todo. Todo era susceptible de ser transmitido y enseñado. Cada año tenía a una legión nueva de chicos que nunca antes habrían escuchado lo que él iba a contarles sobre la lengua, el arte, el barrio o la vida. Ese era su mayor orgullo. Nos encendía la vela de la curiosidad. Nos hacia participes de todo lo que contaba. Y nos enamoraba con sus explicaciones.
Igual de enamorado que lo estuvo siempre de su ciudad. LA CIUDAD. Girona. Esa que como él quería, es “petita i tendre”. Porque no quería otra ciudad diferente. Quería su Girona. La de las buenas y malas cosas. Toda ella. Sin complejos ni pretensiones. Donde incluso fue el precursor de los funerales laicos al escribir un libro sobre como celebrarlos, cuando aquí, nadie había pedido nunca uno –o no sabían cómo debía ser-. Su tierna, pequeña y emocionante ciudad, por donde se le podía ver pasear cada tarde admirando a sus piedras, sus rincones y sus gentes. Por donde se le podía encontrar cada día escudriñando librerías, locales, callejuelas. Buscando historias que contar. Historias desconocidas. Historias de los pequeños héroes de la vida. Historias de piedras y rocas olvidadas en algún almacén perteneciente al Ayuntamiento. Donde acudía a los plenos municipales, incluso los nocturnos, porque su lucha social y el bienestar de la ciudad no tenía horarios. Buscando enamorarnos a todos con la que, por si no nos habíamos dado cuenta, es la ciudad más bonita del firmamento. Girona, la que los libros de historia presentan y narran que fue tres veces inmortal. Como inmortal fue su sonrisa. E invencible también. Incluso en su despedida, lo hizo sonriendo. Quizá con su mirada interesante y su sonrisa que denotaba disfrute de la vida. Pero incluso en su marcha, nos transmitió a todos su sonrisa. Girona ya es cuatro veces inmortal.
